We're taking this time to pause...

This is our very first year in business and not a day has gone by that I haven't been in awe of the encouragement that has poured in from not only my local community but new friends abroad supporting the vision and mission behind everything we do.

This project has relied on a balance between finding my roots in my community at home in the US and on the other side of the world. It's been a beautiful dance and in times like these, a complicated one. I rely on participating hands-on in creative partnerships with our artisans and the work I want to do relies on being able to dig my hands deep into the world. Right now this is near impossible, and so I wait.

I feel that this is a time that we're all being asked to reflect, a time to find our way back to our personal center point and once we're there, think about what we want our lives to feel like after this is all over. For me personally and for Rooted Cloth, I'm asking myself how I can simplify my vision and mission to create something even more in alignment with my heart and hopes for the future. As we digest the answers in our own personal stories and this time runs its course, there is an emptiness - this void - which we are all feeling so deeply at this moment. As a business owner, it's easy to feel the pressure to fill it by moving on as all is normal but I am feeling that pausing to realign with my own visions for the future will be more beneficial in the long run than pushing forward.

So staying in alignment with this opportunity to simplify and reflect, I'll be closing the shop online until I know where we're headed from here. The remaining pieces from Thailand made in the summer of 2019 will be sold through our Instagram and locally where possible. An increased percentage of sales will be passed on to our artisans at this time to give additional financial support to them and their families. I'll be taking this time to re-work our website, plan our projects and eventually, venture to new places and see what happens next.

If you want to get in touch about anything at all in the meantime, please reach out. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with you on the other side of this as there are sure to be much brighter days to come.

With love and gratitude,

Olivia
