Rooted Cloth is the result of years of wandering, a passion for living creatively and for beautiful clothing to adorn and celebrate our physical body. But most of all, its for the love of the people and places that have captured my heart and continue to inspire me. My hope is they will do the same for you.
To make a piece of cloth is a journey that will unfold beginning with one single moment - when the seed of the fiber takes root. From that moment, so much goes into making the clothing we wear. It passes through many lives and hands on its way to becoming whole. This project is to honor the process as much as the final product.
Our pieces are created and curated with sensitivity to the social, economical and environmental impact in their country of origin. We work closely with local women artisans in Northern Thailand to empower their creativity and entrepreneurship by representing small runs of their designs as well as co-creating and sourcing limited edition and one of a kind pieces.
Keeping as close to the earth as possible, all of our fabric is 100% natural cotton or linen and when we use color, we dye with plant based dyes or repurpose antique or vintage textiles.
With each piece that you buy, know that you're helping write another woman's story as 10% of your purchase is allotted towards a fund for the development of micro-loans. These loans will be made available to indigenous women artisans in need so that they are empowered with the resources to start their own textile based business. In this way I believe we are honoring a woman's greatest potential to utilize her talents to create a better future for herself and her family. Our first loan will be given in August 2020 - our one year mark as Rooted Cloth.
Thank you for being a part of our story.
